This unit introduces interdisciplinary design themes evident in the design process for positioning objects and ideas within the context of temporary environments. It involves a theoretical examination of appropriate techniques for the presentation of information and for user interaction, as well as the connections these have with both traditional and virtual display and with public art. Students will also be introduced to the practical and organisational logistics associated with managing exhibitions, temporary displays, and other major public events including staging.

2. Demonstrate an understanding of the ways an audience can be informed and engaged through display;
3. Demonstrate skills associated with directing and managing temporary design and installation; and

Participation requirements
Students who attend campus for class or other purposes must play their part in keeping our campus and community safe by following these basic guidelines to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission:

Required IT skills
Students are expected to have advanced skills in word processing, report compilation and digital presentation programs such as AutoCAD, Photoshop and InDesign.
In-unit costs
Materials and equipment needed to undertake the projects, such as drawing and model making materials, and costs associated with any site visits, are generally the responsibility of each individual student. This could be in the order of $300 per semester.
