Learning outcomesOn completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Interpret how the physiological response to exercise affects nutritional requirements;
2. Interpret data to assess body composition and health risk of elite athletes;
3. Critically analyse dietary strategies to influence the health and performance of elite and recreational athletes;
4. Research and apply established theories to develop nutritional strategies that aid performance and health; and
5. Communicate sports nutrition concepts accurately and effectively.

Moderation of Assessment
This unit will be moderated as per Faculty of Health Moderation Guidelines. A copy is available via Canvas.
Repeat students are required to comply with the unit requirements to pass the unit. Marks from a previous attempt at Sports Nutrition cannot be carried over to a subsequent attempt.
Special assessment requirements
To pass the unit, students must:
- complete the Endurance Competition Plan and Body Composition Case Study
- attain at least 50 marks overall
Students will not be able to resubmit assignments.
Required IT skills
Students are required to submit typed assignments and complete online quizzes. Use of dietary analysis software is required. Further instructions will be provided on Canvas and in tutorials.
