Learning outcomesOn successful completion of this unit, students will have:
1. A comprehensive knowledge of the chemical basis of the synthesis of medicinal products and illicit substances. Students should be able to relate their chemical knowledge to the issues confronting investigations of clandestine laboratories. Students should know how to be informed by the available literature and data on the current trends in illicit drug synthesis.

Important: Extensions and acceptance of late submissions for units not delivered by the University of Canberra will follow the rules of the delivering institution, which may be different from the UC rules!

Special assessment requirements
An aggregate mark of 50 % or more is required to pass this unit.
The 150 hours associated with this unit should be distributed over the trimester teaching period, which is either 12 or 15 weeks; therefore you should be spending on average 10 – 12.5 hours a week on this unit. This time would be used to complete the unit activities (such as module based reading), assessments (such as assignments and/or quizzes) as well as reading and participating in online discussion boards.
As this is a fully online unit, participation and engagement in online discussions with your instructor and classmates is an important part of student learning and all students are encouraged to actively engage with this unit. Your participation in online activities will enhance your understanding of the unit content and therefore the quality of your assessment responses. Lack of participation may result in your inability to satisfactorily pass assessment items.
