The unit will introduce students to an extensive range of border control issues, including:- Border security - maritime security, aviation security and supply chain security;- Trade development and facilitation;- Border taxation and revenue management;- Migration - including demographics, migration categories, visa issue and processing and illegal immigration;- Environmental controls - including animal and plant health, endangered and protected species;- Transnational crime - including drugs, weapons, pornography, money laundering and trade in endangered species. These issues will be analysed in terms of policy, legislation, economic impact and social impact. This unit will be co-taught with unit Introduction to Border Control G.
