Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at UC. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.
Academic integrity involves the ethical, honest and responsible use, creation and sharing of information. It is critical to the quality of higher education. Our academic integrity values are honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage.
UC students have to complete the Academic Integrity Module annually to learn about academic integrity and to understand the consequences of academic integrity breaches (or academic misconduct).
UC uses various strategies and systems, including detection software, to identify potential breaches of academic integrity. Suspected breaches may be investigated, and action can be taken when misconduct is found to have occurred.
Information is provided in the Academic Integrity Policy, Academic Integrity Procedure, and University of Canberra (Student Conduct) Rules 2023. For further advice, visit Study Skills.
Participation requirements
At least a week before your placement each student is expected to complete the "InPlace" software programme found on Canvas or the UC website. This is important in order for the Convener to have time to communicate with your Supervisor and for you to organise any further documentation required before the first day of your placement. Within InPlace you will submit all details of your placement including the business name; supervisor's name, addresses, email address, dates of internship etc before your Internship commences. If approved by the unit convener an email will be then sent to both your supervisor/contact person and to yourself indicating official confirmation. Should you have any major concerns with your InPlace submission (eg placement date changes after you have submitted) please let the Convener know ASAP so that your concern can be addressed in a timely fashion.
Required IT skills
You are assumed to have adequate skills in the use of word processing and spreadsheet programs, Internet browsers and search engines. If you feel you do not have adequate skills, please discuss the matter with the unit convener.
In-unit costs
