Required texts
You will be provided with the access to the soft copy of the "Unit Materials Workbook" on Canvas for this unit. You will also be expected to purchase, or have constant access to:
- Oshima, A. and A. Hogue (2014) Longman Academic Writing Series Level 4. Fifth edition. New York: Addison-Wesley Longman which is used in classes
- an English-English dictionary, such as the Collins Cobuild Students English Dictionary, for examinations and tests
- an English thesaurus, such as The Essential English Thesaurus
Participation requirements
Students must achieve at least 50% of overall marks to pass this unit.
It's strongly suggested that students attend and engage with all classes. Since there is a Continuous Assessment componenet as part of overall assessment, unsatisfactory attendance means that if students are not in class to participate, this will make it difficult for those students to fulfil the requirements for this part of the assessment.
Required IT skills
Students are expected to bring their electronic device to all classes, such as a lap-top computer or ipad.
