Submission of assessment items

Extensions & Late submissions

All assessment items will be submitted online via Canvas.

The first page of each assessment submission should include the following information:

·       Student ID:

·       Assessment Name:

·       Word Count (if applicable):

Word format: 1.5 to double spaced, 12 Times New Roman, with page numbers and student names on every page, and Reference List of sources (literature, videos etc.) used in APA format at the end.

The 7745 Assignment Coversheet is to be completed and uploaded as part of the assessment. Assessment items must be submitted online on Canvas by the due date unless an extension has been negotiated (see student forms on UC website).

Special assessment requirements

All Assignments in this unit are graded. In order to pass this unit, all assignments must be submitted and a mark of 50% or more must be reached for each assessment. 

Responsibility for Understanding

If there is any doubt with regard to the requirements of any particular assignments or assessment procedure, the onus for clarifying the issue rests with the student who should contact the tutor or unit convener.  Further, it is the responsibility of students to ensure that they are correctly enrolled in the unit and that the tutor and Student Administration have their correct contact details.

Moderation of Assignments

Some assessments will be moderated, as per the School and Faculty Moderation Procedures.

Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at UC. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.

UC students have to complete the Academic Integrity Module annually to learn about academic integrity and to understand the consequences of academic integrity breaches (or academic misconduct).

UC uses various strategies and systems, including detection software, to identify potential breaches of academic integrity. Suspected breaches may be investigated, and action can be taken when misconduct is found to have occurred.

Learner engagement

The amount of time you will need to spend on study in this Unit will depend on a number of factors including your prior knowledge, learning skill level and learning style. Nevertheless, in planning your time commitments you should note that for a 3cp Unit the total notional workload over the thirteen week semester is assumed to be 150 hours or an average of 12 hours per week. These hours include time spent in classes.

It is strongly recommended that students who need assistance in undertaking the unit because of disability or an ongoing health condition register with the Inclusion and Engagement Office as soon as possible so that reasonable adjustment arrangements can be made.

Participation requirements

Participation requirements

The Graduate Diploma and Master of Counselling have been designed to meet the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) accreditation requirements, which include 200 hours face to face learning. This translates to at least an 80% attendance in each unit. It is expected that students will attend all sessions unless prevented by illness or other unforeseen situations. In these circumstances students should notify the lecturer in advance where possible.  In order to meet the required professional and educational standards students must discuss catchup work with the lecturer when two sessions have been missed.

You will need to complete both assignments with a combined total above 50% in order to pass this course.

Required IT skills

You must be able to word process assessments so that they are well presented, search the library data bases for relevant journal articles and access the UCLearn site for this unit,  It is the individual student's responsibility to access appropriate help from the university IT services or the library if he or she does not have adequate skills.
