This unit will expose honours students to the main theoretical ideas that underpin research in a range of social science, business, management and other contexts. It provides theoretical support for the students approach to their honours thesis. Specific topics include: Research methodology; epistemology and ontology; The research process; Qualitative and quantitative research approaches; Aligning research methodology and research methods; and Selecting and evaluating research designs.
1. Develop a research strategy that is appropriate for the research that you are doing;
2. Use the methodological terms in an accurate and meaningful way;
3. Reflect upon and critique research methodologies; and
4. Write an appropriate proposal for their research project and reflect upon the ethical issues.
