Candidates will undertake research resulting in a contribution to knowledge, or a new presentation of existing knowledge, within the fields of informatics, software or network engineering, mathematics or statistics. The work is expected to include systematic and searching reviews of the relevant literature, clear statements of research aims, objectives and significance, explication of the research method(s), a critical application of theories to the topic under investigation, and the production of scholarly seminars, papers and a thesis.
