Candidates will undertake original research resulting in a significant contribution to knowledge within the fields of informatics, software or network engineering, mathematics or statistics. The work is expected to include systematic and searching reviews of the relevant literature, clear statements of research aims, objectives and significance, explication of the research method(s), a critical application of theories to the topic under investigation, and the production of scholarly seminars, papers and a thesis.
Learning outcomes
At the completion of the thesis unit students will have demonstrated competence in research and the ability to make an original contribution to the field in the context of a thorough understanding of the state of knowledge in the field and the relationship of the research to it.Prerequisites
