Learning outcomesOn successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Delineate the assumptions, functions, and desirable properties of psychological measures;
2. Critically review the psychometric, ethical, and sociocultural issues in the construction, validation, implementation and interpretation of psychological measures with critical consideration of their appropriateness when working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; and
3. Critically evaluate the reliability, validity, and standardisation procedures of selected psychological tests.

Additional requirements for the submission of assessment items for this unit
All assessments are to be submitted electronically via the unit's Canvas site by the due date and time.
Marking and feedback
1. Assessment items will be marked within three weeks of submission.
2. Availability of marks and feedback will be notified via Canvas Announcements.
3. Assessments submitted after the due date and time, regardless of whether an extension was granted, may be returned at a later date than those submitted on time.
4. Late submission may result in reduced feedback being provided.

Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
Students are expected to attend workshops, as participation in workshops is necessary for developing students' knowledge and competence in psychological testing and assessment.

Test materials necessary for unit completion will be supplied in class/online at no additional cost to the students. All readings are available on the Reading List on Canvas.
Work placement, internships or practicums
Announcements made during workshops and/or Canvas will be deemed to have been received by all students in the unit.
