Learning outcomes
Building on Intermediate Microeconomic and Macroeconomic theory, students will be able to:1. Analyse both different theories of international trade and Macroeconomic problems faced by open economies;
2. Evaluate the assumptions underpinning these different theories of international trade and use this knowledge to identify an appropriate theory to answer a particular question; and
3. Analyse advanced Macroeconomics models including the Dornbusch exchange rate overshooting model.

Appleyard and Field (A & F) 2014 International Economics 8th Edition, Irwin-McGraw-Hill.The 7th or 6th editions are also acceptable as a substitute text book as the theories don't change, only the examples. You can use the library copies as an alternative to purchasing.

The copy of your major essay that you submit online will be tested though URKUND and Moodle will record the date and time that it was submitted. However, I will mark a hard copy that you need to submit in my mail box no. 218 on the ground floor of building 11.

Participation requirements
This unit is difficult to pass as the theories discussed are quite complex. Consequently, it is expected that students will attend both lectures and tutorials unless ill.
