Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Analyse and apply theories, principles, and techniques of counselling across the lifespan;
2. Identify and evaluate issues when working with family systems and formulate and implement ethical and professional solutions; and
3. Demonstrate a variety of counselling skills that can be applied to working with adolescents, families the elderly and children.

Submission of assessment items
Extensions & Late submissions
Where possible, all assessment items will be submitted online via the teaching site in UCLearn. The first page of each assessment item should include the following information: Student ID, Assessment Name and Word Count (if applicable). Students should note that names are not to be included on any assessment tasks/submissions. Only Student ID numbers should be included (as per the Assessment Policy and Assessment Procedures).
Students are not permitted to use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in assessments for this unit.
Written parts of assignments must be submitted in the required APA 7 format.
Special assessment requirements
All Assignments in this unit are graded. In order to pass this unit, all assignments must be submitted and an overall mark of 50% or more must be reached.
Moderation
Assessments will be moderated per the school and faculty moderation procedures.
Responsibility for Understanding
If there is any doubt with regard to the requirements of any particular assignments or assessment procedure, the onus for clarifying the issue rests with the student who should contact the unit convener or tutor. Further, it is the responsibility of students to ensure that they are correctly enrolled in the unit and that the tutor and Student Administration have their correct contact details.
Resubmissions
Resubmission of assessment items will not be considered following release of marks for an assessment.

Participation requirements
It is intended that learning in this unit will be interactive and practical. It is presumed therefore that students have made adequate arrangements for attending all teaching-learning sessions. Attendance and participation at weekly tutorials are essential for successful completion of the unit.
If participation requirements cannot be satisfied (e.g. timetable clash), it is recommended that you postpone this unit for a future semester.
