The unit bridges the classroom knowledge and the real working environments. It provides a continuous and intensive period where realistic and comprehensive understanding of the complexity of professional settings can be experienced. Students are required to engage in workplace activity where they can examine engineering theories and practices. Through the unit, students will appreciate and reflect on Stage 1 competency standard for professional engineers, stipulated by Engineers Australia.
1. Demonstrate the use of professional skills and knowledge through engagement in the workplace;
2. Communicate, interact and work with colleagues;
3. Demonstrate engagement with professional work problem solving;
4. Critically reflect upon and evaluate work practices;
5. Critique workplace practices and formulate improvement for the purposes of academic research and/or workplace implementation; and
6. Evaluate own development towards the graduate capability prescribed by the University of Canberra and Stage 1 competency standard for professional engineers stipulated by Engineers Australia.
1. UC graduates are professional - display initiative and drive, and use their organisation skills to plan and manage their workload
Students must have completed 24 credit points.
Learning outcomes
