Contemporary Issues: Future of Business (12050.1)

This unit recognises that vision for the future, culture of co-production and collaboration, innovation, people and teams, and the management of technology and human collaboration are core to the future of business. Students will gain insights into human and technological trends, prediction of future business, and short and long term strategic planning. This unit will prepare students for career readiness in business for their future careers. Students will commence their developmental journey, through discovering and exploring the capabilities for leading and managing business in the future. Contemporary topics included are, technology AI, VR, robotics and big data in business and for decision making, these will change for each semester delivery. In addition the unit will focus in on jobs of the future.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Explain theory and concepts of contemporary business such as technology, big data and future jobs, and discuss and debate these in practice;

2. Analyse and evaluate key factors and functions of future trends, such as managing organisation, people, and technology for the future in a range of contexts and industries to solve real-world problems;
3. Explore how to create a culture of acceptance and application of innovation and technology in Business; and
4. Predict and estimate the extent of technology and human collaboration in a range of organisations and cultural contexts, being prepared for their future careers.
