This unit has an in-person on-campus intensive component. This unit will explore a range of theories for working with individuals, groups and communities experiencing trauma, loss and grief. Trauma informed practice for social workers across a variety of settings is explored. Students will focus on clinical practice with individuals and/or families who have experienced or are experiencing trauma and abuse. They will also examine the trauma, loss and grief by communities through transgenerational trauma such as colonization, war, resettlement as well as through natural disasters such as bushfires and floods and the role of social workers.

3. Demonstrate trauma informed practice skills when working with individuals and communities across fields of practice.
