The Animateuring unit focuses on preparing the student to practically apply the skills they have acquired through their engagement in the drama and performance. It prepares the student to be able to apply their skills in practical ways across the community: creating, leading and facilitating projects that are designed to have social, economic and cultural impacts on individuals, organisations and communities. It emphasises the core roles of the animateur including maker, performer, initiating artist, collaborative artist, ensemble artist, and community facilitator.
1. Develop an understanding and capacity for initiating and realising projects in drama and performance within and across a range of cultural and social contexts;
2. Acquire a greater understanding of the utility and value of drama and performance experiences for individuals and groups at the community, school and business;
3. Achieve skill in eliciting ideas from people and implementing appropriate processes to develop artistic performances;
4. Acquire a practical understanding of group dynamics and communication skills needed to develop productive work processes within a collaborative context;
5. Develop effective entrepreneurial, planning management and promotional skills appropriate to projects, to ventures in arts training and to small arts organisations; and
6. Acquire a capacity with which to target, connect with, nurture and develop an audience.

In order to succeed in this unit students will need to attend a high percentage of classes, achieve a pass mark in an end-of-Semester examination, or complete all assessments for a subject. This is particularly important as this is the first time this unit will be delivered.
