In graphic design class, I was tasked to create an A4 design poster for the school's drama production, Tess of the D'Urbervilles. The story features a young girl Tess, who attempts to escape from the abusive relationship of her husband, Alec D’urberville. With the original novel written in the late 19th century from a period where there was clear societal hierarchies separating the poor and the rich, or women from men, the poster had to incorporate the main idea of Tess’s dangerous pursuit for love and self-expression.
