She's Here

I began painting this piece after moving to Australia to show how I felt during this journey. The girl is sitting on the stairs to represent how it feels to be caught between two floors, uncertain of where she belongs. I added the blood dripping down her ear, after the death of a girl in my country, Iran, because of her dress code. She was beaten by the police, bleeding through her ear. While I am lucky to live in a free country, many women in my homeland don’t have this opportunity. This painting demonstrates the struggles that women in Iran are going through, hoping for a brighter future.
