Pests

‘Pests’ reverses conceptions of who and what are ‘pests’ in an age of commodification of all life. ‘Pests’ switches the roles of animals and humans, to demonstrate the way humans cruelly treat animals. The figure of the rabbit represents the human who wields a weapon to dominate, and typifies a belief in human exceptionalism. The figure of the girl is the rabbit who gazes fearfully towards the viewer, her vulnerable form urging engagement and support.
