In light of Coronavirus and the high demand of rapid antigen tests, it has become apparent that rapid antigen tests are not recyclable. As a result, a mass amount of Rapid Antigen tests end up in landfill, impacting the environment negatively. To solve this, I have designed a biodegradable Rapid Antigen test, by using biodegradable materials an alternative to plastic which are biodegraded into the soil. Once the Rapid Antigen test is in the soil, the biohazard risk is mitigated through microbial enzymes released by the soil. Thus, reducing landfill waste.
