"An Informed Rejection (aka Stepping Lightly: one Indigenous researcher/creator, her community, and the academy)"

This presentation centres on the iterative process that is Lisa's PhD journey. From exploring her creative, cultural and research practices through readings and engagement in academia, and her place within them as a First Nations woman, researcher and creative. To taking a stance of informed rejection of white epistemology as a core philosophy upon which the academy is built and replacing it with her cultural stance as a Murri woman, with all the resulting ontological, epistemological, and axiological shifts that requires. Lisa will attempt to condense four years of learning into twenty minutes and detail the ongoing exploration of her work within the discourse of her epistemology.
