Specialist Major in Indigenous Studies (SM0099.1)

Building on the core skills and knowledge embedded in your Arts degree, this major develops an in-depth understanding of Indigenous knowledges, cultures, histories and contemporary issues, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. Through the study of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing, you will explore connections to Country, culture, heritage, justice, health, digital futures and Indigenous self-determination. Engaging with communities, cultural collections and real-world projects, you will develop cultural capability, critical awareness and practical skills to work respectfully and effectively with Indigenous peoples across professional, academic and civic contexts, supporting positive outcomes in government, community, cultural and research sectors.
