The Public Policy and Administration major provides a deep understanding of how and why governments operate the way they do. The major explores where policy and programs come from, how they are approved and funded, how they are designed and delivered, and how they are evaluated. Students will learn how to identify and analyse stakeholders and their needs. This includes how to incorporate stakeholders' lived expertise and expectations into policy and program design. Upon graduation, students will be primed to meaningfully contribute as future leaders in addressing complex policy challenges such as First Nations policy issues, wealth generation and distribution, equitable access to income, housing and employment, and cost-effective action on environmental protection and climate change. Armed with skills in public policy and administration, graduates will be prepared to work for or with governments to improve outcomes for individuals, communities, and society.
