The integration of robotic systems with artificial intelligence (AI) will produce a new generation of workers and companions; it is no longer the "stuff" of science fiction, but rather a scientific reality! This niche major in Intelligent Robotics will exploit the synergies between these two areas. The major will offer a grounding in intelligent systems and the chance to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. The students will have the opportunity to have an intensive, extended work-integrated learning experience, in addition to the capstone project, which will allow them to hone their practical expertise in AI and robotics engineering. With access to humanoid robots, robotic arms, mobile robotic platforms and other technology, the graduates will develop the specialist knowledge and skills demanded by employers in the fast-growing AI and robotic industries, which is also relevant to the wider range of applications needing automation and artificial intelligence, including autonomous and mechatronic systems in manufacturing and healthcare.
