The Specialist Major in Literary Studies will provide students with a training in the close reading of novels, poems, picture books, scripts and films. As well as exploring the close-up details of how artists elicit emotional and intellectual engagement from their readers and audiences, the major will provide students with a set of theoretical frameworks in which to understand the historical emergence and ongoing development of contemporary forms of narrative art. This will include the opportunity to engage with international and/or cross-cultural literature. The Literary Studies Specialist Major ties into the Bachelor of Arts and provides students a major that deepens their engagement with the written word.
