Minor in Sport Integrity and Security (MN0188.1)

This minor firstly examines the impact of the law on sport for administrators and participants. It recognises that sport has considerable commercial significance and reviews appropriate laws. The minor then introduces students to the possibility of new national security threats which are considered in the context of risk and how elements can be applied to counter their effect. Cybercrime is one of the newest and most challenging forms of criminal activity, carried out using modern communication technologies. A review of Cybercrime traces how these crimes have developed and the responses to these emerging threats. The last unit in the minor examines how young people come into contact with crime, as victims, offenders, concerned citizens, or recruits into the police or corrections. Strategies for regulating young people at school, home and in public are assessed.
