THIS MAJOR IS CLOSED TO STUDENTS COMMENCING IN 2021 OR LATER.
The Sustainable Landscapes major allows students to consider the way that landscape processes underpin site-specific sustainable design. Students will be introduced to concepts including: indigenous significance of landscapes; landscape evolution; soil formation; controls on water flow through and over the landscape; and Australian plants and animals, noting how these factors interact spatially. By the end of the major students will be able to approach the design of functional spaces in a manner that is sensitive to the cultural and biophysical characteristics of the landscape, and learn of the professional responsibilities associated with ecological stewardship.
