This Major develops an integrated understanding of the fundamental concepts and methods of genetics, including those relevant to biodiversity conservation, population genetics processes, and environmental influences on adaptation. This Major, in combination with the Major in Applied Ecology provides a sound basis for a career in conservation management and species recovery such as captive breeding and reintroduction programmes. Strong links with the Environmental Genetics and Genomics Research Program in the Institute for Applied Ecology ensures significant research-led teaching.
