The criminal justice system increasingly relies on psychological and social science research to understand criminal behaviour, enhance clinical practices that reduce reoffending, understand the psychological aspects and decisions that lead to miscarriages of justice, enhance police investigations, and effective use forensic evidence and expertise to secure safer convictions and better correctional outcomes. This major provides the skills and background in the area of forensic studies in psychology, enabling graduates to understand the role of psychological science research and practice in criminal justice settings.
