This major is closed to students who commenced in 2019 or later.
English is now the most widely spoken language of international communication, and there is a demand for English teachers all over the world. This major introduces students to the key theoretical concepts supporting the profession of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Students will learn about the complexities of language itself and its function in communication, they will gain understandings of the processes of language acquisition, and will be exposed to up-to-date methodologies of language teaching. Students wishing to complete a 21 credit point major are required to take an additional three credit points from the list of unit choices.
