This major has been designed to enable students to understand the diverse kinds of human activity that can make effective use of IT and the kinds of systems that can be created to support those activities. Students will develop the capacity to engage in the process of analysing and specifying systems requirements that support work practices and to communicate with systems builders. Students will understand the impacts of IT systems on the workplace and be able to contribute to an organisation's overall information architecture. In addition they will learn how to discuss and engage management processes in the planning, acquisition, implementation, use, control, evaluation and continuing development of IT-based information systems. The major consists of an IS Minor, plus a further required subject, Systems Project and Quality Management, plus one subject (18cpt option), two subjects (21cpt option) or three subjects (24cpt option) from a list of IS electives.
