This program core major provides students with the essential knowledge and skills in the field of Engineering. Students will be equipped with a solid foundation in the Engineering profession, including professional ethics, professional expectations, teamwork skills, communication skills, societal issues, legal issues, and privacy issues, among others.
Students will also be able to demonstrate the synthesis of knowledge and skills acquired throughout their coursework study to formulate and implement engineering solutions by taking into consideration professional practice, code of ethics, and professional standards of the industry under the context of social and economic constraints, legal and ethical issues, risk and benefit balance, technology availability and stakeholder management. In honours year, students should complete a year-long project, and choose advanced units offered as open electives in the specialist areas of Network Engineering, or Intelligent Robotics.
Students undertaking the BEng (Hons) degree at the University of Canberra will have access to fully-equipped laboratories and the latest computer-aided software that is used in modern engineering. Students will be encouraged to get involved in industry projects and on a number of other learning opportunities, so they can get the most out of their university education.
Students can choose later to specialise in Network Engineering or in Intelligent Robotics.
