The University of Canberra proudly stands alongside universities across Australia in championing the Respect. Now. Always. (RNA) initiative.
Through RNA, we are committed to educating students, staff, and the wider community about gender-based violence-its underlying drivers and the actions we can take to prevent it.
UC is also dedicated to implementing the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence. This commitment ensures strong leadership, safe and inclusive environments, trauma-informed support, and proactive education and training to protect and empower every member of our community.
In Respect Matters, you’ll learn how to build healthy, respectful relationships and contribute to a safe campus community.
The course covers understanding gender-based violence, consent and communication skills, supporting others, and promoting inclusion, equipping you with practical strategies to engage confidently and compassionately.

Now. Always. initiative by attending events and taking part in campus campaigns. Some of our favourite resources are:
Further Community Support Resources

These include 1800RESPECT for 24/7 national support, Canberra Rape Crisis Centre, Domestic Violence Crisis Service, Lifeline, and MensLine Australia. These services are here to listen, support, and guide you whenever you need it.
