To be eligible for consideration for UC’s Master of Public Health (MPH), applicants must have a bachelor's qualification in either a related or unrelated field.
UC’s Master of Public Health offers Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP). If you meet the eligibility criteria, you'll only need to pay a portion of your tuition fees. This is known as the student contribution amount—the balance once the government subsidy is applied. This means your costs are much lower.
Some students (such as Australian citizens or holders of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa) may be eligible to apply to defer payment of their tuition fees via the Commonwealth Government's FEE-HELP and HECS-HELP schemes.
Visit our fees page for useful information about eligibility and how to apply and pay. You can apply for FEE-HELP or HECS-HELP once you have enrolled in a course.
UC offers two Master of Public Health options to suit your needs and study preference:

“It really doesn’t matter what your undergraduate degree is, there is one thing that matters: you need to have that drive to make an impact, a passion to be a change maker – that’s the recipe for success in public health.”
Public health is the science and practice of protecting and improving community health. It focuses on preventing disease, promoting wellbeing and addressing social, economic and environmental factors that influence health. Unlike clinical healthcare, which treats individuals, public health works at a broader level by shaping policies, designing health programs and advocating for systems that support healthier lives.
Public health professionals work in epidemiology, health promotion, policy development, environmental health and Indigenous health. Their work can involve tracking disease outbreaks, improving healthcare access or designing campaigns that encourage healthy behaviours.
You don’t need a health-related degree to study public health at the University of Canberra. Our Master of Public Health welcomes students from all backgrounds, including business, education and social sciences as well as healthcare. Whether you want to influence policy, manage health programs or support advocacy, this degree gives you the skills and experience to create meaningful change.
