UC OPEN DAY FEST
Sat 20 Sept, 9am - 3pm
At this year’s Annual Lecture, Dr Geoffrey Burkhardt was presented with ANME’s highest honour, Curator Emeritus.
Dr Burkardt has served the ANME for nearly 20 years as a Curator, Senior Curator, Curatorial Adviser and Newsletter Editor. He has also been a very generous donor of items. His collection of textbooks, many from the 19th Century, is the largest collection in the ANME.
Although now retired he continues to be the newsletter editor and still finds educational gems to donate.
Dr Burkhardt was a foundation staff member of the Canberra College of Advanced Education, which was the precursor to the University of Canberra. He spent over thirty years of his professional academic career in the training of history teachers for secondary schools. He is author and co-author of numerous books, including secondary school textbooks, teacher education texts, local histories and school histories.
Congratulation and thank you, Emeritus Curator Dr Burkhardt, for your highly significant contribution to the ANME. (Malcolm Beazley)
