3 July 2018: The University of Canberra has appointed higher education expert and former Universities Australia Chief Executive Belinda Robinson to the newly-created role of Vice-President University Relations and Strategy.
Ms Robinson will be responsible for providing leadership to a diverse team of professionals to deliver strategies, solutions and services in line with the University’s Distinctive by Design strategic plan.
Ms Robinson boasts extensive experience in the tertiary education sector, having led Australia’s peak university body from 2011 until earlier this year.

Prior to Universities Australia, Ms Robinson served as head of the Australian Petroleum and Production Exploration Association.
She has also held senior positions in national, state and local governments – including eight years as an adviser at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Ms Robinson was recently appointed as the Independent Chair of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative Research Centres Association.
University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Deep Saini said Ms Robinson’s appointment was a significant coup for the University.
“Belinda Robinson is regarded as one of the most experienced and respected experts in the higher education sector in Australia,” Professor Saini said.
“Belinda will bring her passion for universities and an extensive knowledge of the higher education sector to the University of Canberra, as well as a broad network spanning public and corporate sectors.
“She is a fierce proponent of universities and a firm believer in their power to change lives for the better, as demonstrated during her outstanding tenure at Universities Australia.
“We can’t wait to see the impact she has at the University of Canberra.”
Ms Robinson said the opportunity to help shape the future of a young university made the role attractive to her.
“Education is a powerful tool and universities have a crucial role to play in shaping our future,” Ms Robinson said.
“The University of Canberra is an up-and-coming institution with extraordinary potential and I’m eager to build on the impressive results it has achieved in its short history.”
Ms Robinson will commence her three-year term on Monday 9 July.
