Bhutan's PM shares his country's transition to democracy, at UC public lecture

The University of Canberra is delighted to welcome The Honourable Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan who delivered a public lecture on the country’s transition to democracy at the University.

The Harvard-educated leader will discuss Bhutan’s journey towards a democratic constitutional monarchy which began in 2008, when the country celebrated its first-ever parliamentary elections.

Mr Togbay has been the Prime Minister of Bhutan, one of the world’s youngest democracies, since 2013. He is the leader of the People's Democratic Party, and was also the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly from March 2008 to April 2013.
