The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable individuals, groups and communities to participate in the occupations that are meaningful for them.

Title The Game of Life

As an interactive experience, the Game of Life invites participants to follow a family experiencing some changes in their lives, in terms of their health, work and living conditions. The Game of Life allows students to learn about the wide range of areas occupational therapists work in and the diverse nature of people and communities occupational therapists work with.

Students will have the opportunity to ask questions about any aspect of occupational therapy and how to become an occupational therapist.
Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • identify areas of practice for occupational therapy
  • identify settings of practice for occupational therapy
  • identify key strategies occupational therapists use
  • know the process of studying to become an occupational therapist.

Title Sensory Modulation and Study Skills
Description Occupational therapists help people to participate in meaningful occupations. For high school students one of the most important occupations is studying. In this workshop we will explore different ways sensory techniques can be used to improve study skills.

  • Learn about the role of an occupational therapist.
  • Develop an understanding of occupation.
  • Explore in depth the occupation of studying.
  • Trial sensory techniques to improve study skills.
