Biography
Associate Professor Sitti Maesuri Patahuddin is Director of Indonesian Partnerships at the Faculty of Education, University of Canberra, where she is pivotal in advancing educational collaboration between Australia and Indonesia. Dr. Patahuddin boasts an impressive career in STEM and Teacher Education, underpinned by over two decades of experience as a mathematics educator and researcher
Dr. Patahuddin earned her PhD from the University of Queensland in 2009 and has since enhanced her expertise through postdoctoral roles at various prestigious institutions. These include the STEM Education Research Centre (SERC) University of Canberra (2014-2016), the Institute for Professional Practice Learning and Education Charles Sturt University (2013-2014), and the School of Education at the University of Witwatersrand South Africa (2011-2012). Her research primarily focuses on enhancing teacher professional development (PD) in mathematics across diverse educational environments. Her work is renowned for its exploration into the sustainable and scalable impacts of PD initiatives.
A leader in her field, Dr. Patahuddin has spearheaded several major research projects. Notably, she led a national project funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2014 to 2018, aimed at improving mathematics education in Indonesia's West Nusa Tenggara region. In 2023, together with her research team in SERC, she secured a Discovery Grant from the Australian Research Council to develop longitudinal spatial interventions, further enhancing her complex research skills in educational research.
Dr. Patahuddin's contributions extend beyond research. She plays a crucial role in bridging educational initiatives between Australia and Indonesia, leveraging her deep understanding of both higher education and school education to foster effective international collaborations. Her strategic and empathetic management style has proven essential in the successful delivery of transformative educational programs.
Her leadership has been instrumental in projects such as the "Bridging Continents: Education Leadership and Management Excellence Programme" for Indonesian policymakers, and the "Transcontinental Training: Advancing Indonesian Education through Australian Personalised Learning Practices," for Indonesian National Teachers Trainers, both of which have significantly influenced educational practices and systems in Indonesia.
Through her scholarly work and project leadership, Dr. Patahuddin continues to make a profound impact on the educational sector, applying academic insights to address real-world challenges and significantly enhancing the educational experiences of teachers and students.
