Thesis Writing Workshops

This series of workshops is designed to assist research students from any discipline to gain a clear understanding of the thesis writing process and develop essential skills required for writing a thesis. It also aims to provide a venue for thesis writers on campus to share their research and writing experiences, give and receive constructive feedback, and benefit from such intellectual sharing during their thesis writing process.

Registration:

You may register for the entire series of workshops, or selected
sessions. To register for the workshops, contact the Academic Skills
Program on 6201-2205. You may also drop in the ASP office in 1B24
(located between UCU and Security Office, above the UC Bar).

Intensive Grammar & Writing Course

1st Semester: 29 June to 10 July 2009

2nd Semester: 23 November to 4 December

Monday to Friday for 2 weeks, 9.00 am - 1.00 pm

These workshops are very popular, but places are limited, so it is important to book early.

We charge a small fee of $35.00 for the Grammar and Writing Courses to cover cost of materials and refreshments. Payment must be made on booking, as places cannot be held over.

The Writing Group

For students from a Non-English Speaking Background.

Improve your grammar and writing, and your grades by learning how to write great sentences and how to edit.

When: Wednesdays 12.30 - 1.30
Where: Room 1C37
Cost: Free

 

Oral Skills for Non-English Speakers

Speak up!
Practice your tutorial participation and presentation skills in an informal setting. If you are interested in joining this group you need to register your interest with the receptionist in the Academic Skills Program*.

*We need a minimum of 4 students to start a new group.

When: Fridays 10.30 - 12.00
Where: Room 1B24, Academic Skills Program, Building 1, Concourse Level
Cost: Free

Research Skills

Students are advised to take advantage of the research skills workshops offered by the Library.
