Use of Libraries Use of LibrariesAll users are required to observe the rules and conditions of use of a particular library and its collection. You are personally liable for any breach of a library's rules or conditions. Membership of other university libraries is provided under the University Library Australia national borrowing scheme. ACT Library and Information Service (Public Libraries)Library membership is free to all people who live, work, visit or study in the ACT and surrounding district of the Canberra region. Proof of identity and proof of address are required to join. Complete the ACT Libraries online form, or visit one of the branches in person. Australian Catholic University (ACU)University of Canberra staff and students may apply for reciprocal borrowing at the Australian Catholic University Library under the University Library Australia national borrowing scheme. Identification of your current University of Canberra status (e.g. your student card or a copy of your employment contract) and proof of your current address will be required. Apply in person at the ACU Canberra Campus Library. Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA)University of Canberra staff and students may apply for reciprocal borrowing at the Australian Defence Force Academy Library under the University Library Australia national borrowing scheme. Identification of your current University of Canberra status (e.g. your student card or a copy of your employment contract) and proof of your current address will be required. Apply in person at ADFA Library. Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW)University of Canberra academic staff may apply for courtesy membership of the AIHW Library. Australian National University (ANU)University of Canberra staff and students may apply for reciprocal borrowing at the Australian National University Library under the University Library Australia national borrowing scheme. Identification of your current University of Canberra status (e.g. your student card or a copy of your employment contract) and proof of your current address will be required. Membership charges for borrowing at ANU Library may apply. Apply in person at any of the ANU Libraries. Calvary Health Care ACTUC staff and Health Science students may apply for courtesy membership of the Calvary Medical Library without fee. Application must be made in person at the Calvary Medical Library between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Identification of your current UC status (e.g. your student card or a copy of your employment contract) and proof of your current address are required. Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT)University of Canberra staff and students may apply for courtesy membership of the CIT Library without fee. Photographic identification, proof of enrolment or employment at the University (e.g. a copy of your employment contract or current student card) and proof of your current address will be required. Apply in person at any Canberra Institute of Technology Learning Centre. National Capital Authority Library & Information CentreAccess is available to the public, for private research and browsing journals, between 10am and 2pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. To ensure assistance is available for help with enquiries it is necessary to make a prior appointment by phone at the National Capital Authority Library & Information Centre. National Gallery of Australia Research Library (NGARL)All UC staff and students preparing Honours, Masters or PhD may apply for reader's status at the National Gallery of Australia Research Library without fee. Apply in writing for reader's status and make an appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Entry is via the Security Desk at the Staff Entrance. Undergraduate/Diploma students' requests for a reader's ticket cannot normally be granted, except for theses work. National Library of Australia (NLA)All permanent residents of Australia are eligible to access the NLA and its collection. However, in order to use the library collection you must apply for a National Library of Australia library card. National Sports Information Centre (NSIC)UC academic staff may apply for courtesy membership of the NSIC. There is no charge. University students may read in the Centre. Masters in Sports Medicine students are regarded as "primary clients" and have special privileges. Please contact the National Sports Information Centre for more information.
