Kefu’s UC love story

Marcus Butler

13 April 2017: The University of Canberra holds many fond memories for Kefu Li and on 11 April he added another to his collection- graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering in Network and Software Engineering (Honours).

In addition to earning his degree, the University helped play matchmaker for Mr Li who met his wife Ziyu Ning (Coco) at an introductory language course held on campus in 2012. Mr Li proposed to Miss Ning last year while on a visit to Uluru and they were married in China in December.

“Coco and I had photographers follow us around campus before our wedding as we wanted to show how we met and the University was where our relationship started,” he said.

Mr Li has also been working on an ongoing research project at the University, contributing to an ‘Internet of Things’ based technology, allowing forest managers at the National Arboretum in Canberra to monitor soil conditions.

“I received a lot of guidance on this project from other researchers at the University and it was a great experience to be able to help build a solution to meet the Arboretum’s needs,” Mr Li said.

“I love the environment around the campus and Canberra. It’s been my dream to live in a place like this. I’ve really enjoyed my time at the University of Canberra.”
