UC and Navitas launch partnership to operate UC College

7 September 2015: The University of Canberra and global education services provider Navitas formally kicked off their partnership to provide quality university pathway programs via the University of Canberra College (UCC) last week.

Officially launched by ACT Minister Yvette Berry MLA, the partnership will enhance UCC's capacity to recruit more students from a wider range of countries around the globe and to deliver both existing and new pathway programs.

University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen Parker said the agreement will boost UCC's competitiveness, providing a wider range of pathway opportunities to domestic and international students who want to further their tertiary studies at the University.

"The University of Canberra College has been delivering quality education to students for nearly two decades and this agreement will ensure we continue to increase access to a university education and offer our programs further across the world," Professor Parker said.

UCC, which commenced teaching in 1998, will continue providing university pathways, English-language and diploma courses to international and domestic students - with those who successfully complete a UC College program eligible to continue their studies in degree courses at the University of Canberra.

UCC enrols approximately 1,300 University pathway students and 900 English language students annually. Its diploma programs include business, business informatics, communication, design, information technology and science.

Navitas is a leading global education provider and partner that offers an extensive range of educational services through three major divisions to students and professionals including university programs, creative media education, professional education, English language training and settlement services.

Rod Jones, Group CEO of Navitas, said the company was delighted to be partnering with the University of Canberra to deliver quality university pathway programs to students.

"Building on an already strong base, I'm confident that this partnership will provide an outstanding education experience for our students, and provide benefits to the University and broader Canberra community" he said.

Minister Berry said: "This partnership will offer more international students the opportunity to study in Canberra, and experience our city, which was recently voted one of Australia's most popular destinations by international students."
