Backwards in Time

Backwards in Time shows the drastic changes in development and land use in Australia, centering on in a single area in Sydney and its specific changes over time. The artwork consists of an oil painted background with four fragmented panels mounted over it. Each of the panels was created using a different medium and each depicts a different time period. The first on the right represents the 1800s, the second is early 1900s, the third is the 1970s and the fourth depicts present day. I have collated real photographs, artworks and written accounts of the area for inspiration and reference.
