Dining Table

Marist College Canberra - Year 12
As part of my design class this year I was asked to make a piece of furniture with a purpose. The piece I chose to make was a dining table that would slip straight into the décor of my home. This project is a special one as it was created using the funds from my grandparents as well as some from my own family. The table I have created is to become a family heirloom thus the simplistic modern design that would fit comfortable into most home decors. As a major project for year 12 I chose to attempt a larger piece than what I would normally take on. Over the years at school, I have been slowly developing my skills in the woodworking shop and thought I was ready to attempt something big and symbolic as a major piece. The table is made from American Walnut and is a solid table with the thickness of all components being 50mm. This design adds to the warm nature of the home it is going to be imbedded in and its size and weight has made it a major feature in the space.
