Around my room

This series of three brightly coloured works was inspired by items around my room I used as references. For me it was a test of technical skill to try to elegantly replicate "the real' but through my own style and by making choices to show the key elements I drew from the stimuli. Piece #1 was a study of texture and reflection of light and how I could manipulate what I drew to put down as few stokes as possible, whist maintaining a realistic study of a lava lamp. A choice was also made in colouring through oscillating patterns in pieces #2 and #3, I wanted to translate the naturally occurring adaptability that these real plants have to change direction and alter themselves as the grown and over time. I wanted to give the static images that movement, and for them to feel unrestricted.
