Whole

whole is a piece that centres around the theme of self-acceptance, telling the story of a girl who turns into a bird every night and her struggles to come to terms with this aspect of herself. The piece was inspired by the nature of the words whole and hole, which are homophones but have opposite meanings. This is depicted through the girl’s struggle to become “whole” while hiding an aspect of herself from others. While the subject matter of this piece may be fantastical, most can relate to the underlying story of coming to love an aspect of yourself that had once been suppressed and feared.
