School visits & workshops

Book a school visit or workshop

You don’t have to wait for an official UC event to benefit from our workshops or information sessions from BGL. Workshops can be tailored to the school cirriculum to tie directly in with your learning objectives.

Our dedicated academic and professional staff will deliver these for you and your students during the school term. Simply connect with us and follow the prompts for a booking request.

You can request any of the following BGL discipline-based activities:

  • Workshops to provide hands-on learning experience.
  • Information Sessions to learn more about our course offerings. 
  • Careers panel workshops covering a variety of BGL disciplines (great for a double period).

BGL Rising Star Competition

Competition for year 10 - 12 students

At UC, we want to recognise your achievements! Become a UC Rising Star. Tell us in 150 words how your performance has improved, or you aced a project in any of the following study areas.

Eligibility

  • You must be a current year 10/11 or 12 student.
  • You may only submit one entry.
  • Please fill in your personal details correctly and check spelling.
  • By submitting your entry, you consent to UC contacting you.
  • If you are under the age of 18, the parental consent section will need to be filled out and digitally signed by a parent/guardian.

Terms and conditions

  • By participating in the competition, participants agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges. All decisions on selecting the winner of the competition made by the judging panel are final.
  • The competition committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant or winner and may refuse to award any prize to a person who is ineligible or has violated any rule, gained unfair advantage in participating in the competition, or obtained winner status using fraudulent means.
  • The competition committee reserves the right to reject entries with objectionable content, e.g. obscenity or an undue degree of violence.
  • The competition committee reserves the right not to award category prizes should the quality of submissions not warrant.
  • By submitting an entry, entrants thereby represent and warrant that the submitted work or information does not and shall not infringe on any copyright, any rights of privacy or publicity of any person, or any other right of any third party, and the entrants the right to grant any and all rights and licenses granted to the contest sponsors herein, including but not limited to, all necessary rights under copyright, free and clear of any claims or encumbrances.
  • Prizes are subject to change depending on both the number and quality of submissions received.
  • The $1000 will be paid in the following year and is subject to successful admission into a Business, Government or Law degree.
  • By submitting an entry, you give permission for the University of Canberra, Faculty of Business, Government and Law to contact you in regard to the Rising Star Prizes, upcoming events and opportunities relevant to you, as well as our course offerings at our Canberra and Brisbane campuses.
  • All information disclosed to the University of Canberra in the course of submitting entries for this competition will be dealt with under the Territory Privacy Principles under the Information Privacy Act 2014 and as per the University Privacy Policy.
  • By submitting an entry, you warrant that you understand and consent to the conditions of this competition. If you are under 16 years of age, please make sure you get a parent or guardian’s consent before submitting an entry. Illuminate Challenge

The 2024 Illuminate Challenge has now closed

 Registrations for 2025 will be announced soon.

What is the Illuminate Enterprise Challenge? 

A one-week immersion experience where students work in groups to solve a community problem with an entrepreneurial solution. Students will learn how to create a business proposal, being guided by expert facilitators and mentors through every stage from marketing to fi nancial forecasting and pitching.

Who is it for?

Any student in Years 9–12! We especially encourage students who are interested in business and entrepreneurship to participate, though the program.
