Complete a Master of Pharmacy at UC and you will:

Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
WIL allows students to work alongside, with, or for professional or government organisations allowing you to gain valuable hands-on experience and build professional relationships before they graduate. This approach ensures that UC students are aware of what is going on their specialist industries, possess a wide range of professional contacts, and as a result have a higher chance of employment upon graduation.
As part of this course, each student will have the opportunity to participate in multiple 2-week placements that take place over the winter semesters at metropolitan, rural or regional community and hospital pharmacies. Some students choose to do these placements overseas.
Students will also get to participate in half day or full day work placements throughout each of the teaching semesters.
Career opportunities
As the aging population continues to grow globally, the demand for qualified and skilled pharmacists who can also engage with patients across all demographics is expected to increase. UC Master of Pharmacy graduate will enter this market with the benefit of having been trained in a smaller, more personal, learning environment resulting in each student receiving a higher level of mentored education.
What this means is that UC Master of Pharmacy graduates are industry respected and will be more than adequately prepared for a variety of career options in either private or government pharmaceutical organisations.
Alternatively, graduates will also have the option to gain further qualifications by returning to university at a later date to continue their studies.
Course specific information
As part of the degree, students will be required to undertake clinical placements and will need to be able to prove that they are fully vaccinated and able to pass standard police checks to comply with government health and security regulations.
This is an Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) accredited course.
To become a registered pharmacist, graduates are required to complete an internship year of supervised practice and pass Australian Pharmacy Board examinations.
Professional accreditation
This program has been granted accreditation by the Australian Pharmacy Council and is approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia as a qualification leading to registration as a pharmacist in Australia.
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
A) a completed bachelor degree in any discipline with a credit or higher average, and
B) a minimum of one unit (subject) of degree level (or higher) study in each of the following disciplines - chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and pharmacology.
Additional admission requirements
All students are also required to present current immunisation records prior to commencing clinical experience. Acknowledgement of the principles of ethical conduct and patient's privacy within the healthcare setting are sought from the students. Healthcare institutions will require all students to abide by their guidelines for conduct within their environments.

Credit arrangements
There are currently no formal credit transfer arrangements for entry to this course. Any previous study or work experience will only be considered as part of the application process in accordance with current course rules and university policy.

Research Planning PG: Students who have completed postgraduate level research training may substitute an Open Elective unit at Graduate or Postgraduate Level, as approved by the Course Convener.
